Fun Things to Do This Weekend in Lake County, Florida

Welcome to this week's list of fun things to do this weekend in Lake County, Florida! There are some things on this list that you definitely don't want to miss...


Friday, November 8, 2019:

  • It's Second Friday Art in the Alley in Mount Dora from 6 - 9 pm. You'll find art and music exhibitors lining Royellou Lane and downtown galleries will have extended hours (6-8 pm) and free admission. You can pick up an Art in the Alley map at the Mount Dora Center for the Arts Gallery. Be sure to have your map punched at each gallery stop along the way to be entered into a raffle for a special prize at the Gatehouse Gallery at the Lakeside Inn. This event is free.

  • It's Movie on the Lawn Night in Fruitland Park from 6:30 - 9 pm at City Hall. Tonight's free movie will be E.T. and there will be free popcorn. The Gardenia Cafe will be selling meal combos for $5. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets.

  • Begin your weekend at Friday Night at the Black Box at the Clermont Performing Arts Center. Headlining at 8 pm will be Phil Hogan who brings his guitar, vocals, and sense of humor to the stage along with comedian Rauce Padgett and emcee Lou Pharis. Tickets are $15 and can be reserved online in advance.


Friday, November 8, 2019 - Sunday, November 10, 2019:

  • Lakeridge Winery in Clermont is having their 29th Annual Holiday Open House from 10 am - 5 pm on Friday and Saturday and from 11 am - 5 pm on Sunday. Admission for adults is $10 and children 12 and under are admitted for free. Local artists and crafters will be there displaying their work and there will be live music on the outdoor stage each day (they suggest bringing lawn chairs or blankets). There will be complimentary winery tours and tasting, plus Lakeridge wine, beer, soft drinks, and food will be available for purchase. The Wine & Cheese Bar upstairs in the wine shop will be open from noon - 4 pm each day with live music as well. Cornhole games will be set up for everyone to enjoy and play for free.

  • Check out the Hot Air Balloons at Leesburg's Balloons on the Lakefront between November 8-10 from 6-9 pm! Each evening, there will be live music, a free kids play zone, beverages and foods for purchase, and you'll get to see hot air balloons light up the lakefront at Venetian Gardens at sunset. Admission is $5 per person or $1 for children ages 2-9. Parking is free or there is limited reserved parking for $10 per vehicle. Can't resist the opportunity to go up in the air yourself? They are offering tethered balloon rides for $20 per person!


Saturday, November 9, 2019:

  • Highland Lakes on US-27 in Leesburg will be hosting its annual Trash & Treasure event today from 8 am - 2 pm. Last year had a huge turnout, so arrive early. You never know what you'll find at this large sale where the saying, "one man's trash is another man's treasure," is remembered. You'll likely find used items, nearly new or unused items, plus arts & crafts available for purchase. Food and drinks will be sold as well. Admission is free.

  • Royal Highlands on US-27 in Leesburg is hosting its 18th Annual Craft Fair beginning at 9 am. Admission is free and you'll find many talented artisans selling jewelry, holiday items, cards, sewn items, cards, and more. They are requesting donations of non-perishable food items for the South Lake Animal League as well as the Salvation Army. Lunch will be available for purchase.

  • Create Your Own Holiday Wreath at The Modernism Museum's Fall Workshop in Mount Dora from 2 - 4 pm. This class is being led by Mickey Hibbard and it includes all supplies and a glass of sparkling wine to enjoy as you craft. Admission is $40 for members or $50 for non-members.

  • It's Leesburg's Food Truck & Flick Night from 5 - 10 pm in downtown Leesburg. The classic car cruise-in begins at 5 and you'll find food trucks, live music, and a cash bar. The free movie will begin just after dusk.


Saturday, November 9, 2019 & Sunday, November 10, 2019:

  • Come one, come all to the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire! The hours are 10 am - 5 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Single day adult tickets are $16 and two day are $29. Single day child tickets are $9 and two day are $15. The proceeds benefit Lake County Public Schools. Veterans with valid ID are admitted for $8 on Sunday, November 10. Special discounted tickets may be available for purchase at the gate on the day of the event. You can expect to see lots of vendors, merchants, and performers dressed in authentic 16th century costumes. Help Captain Wolfe by participating in the King's Crusade Adventure Game!


Monday, November 11, 2019 (Happy Veteran's Day!):

  • The Leesburg MAS (Mobile Art Studio) is a free program for kids aged 4-12. They'll be at the Leesburg Library today from 4-5 pm. Your child will be able to meet and learn from an artist and they'll create their own piece.
