It's hard to believe that it's almost Christmas! Lake County has some fun holiday events to help get you in the spirit this upcoming weekend.
Friday, December 13, 2019:
Groveland is hosting Rockin Around the Christmas Tree (part one) this evening from 5:00 - 8:30 pm. There will be crafts, food vendors, Santa photos, a candy cane hunt for children aged 2-12 (bring flashlights!), a movie in the park, and the tree lighting ceremony.
Fruitland Park is having their Hometown Christmas Celebration from 5:30 - 9:00 pm. There will be entertainment, free activities for the kids including bounce houses, a DJ, food trucks, vendors, and a Santa & Mrs. Claus visit who will arrive by fire truck! There will be a double feature movie on the lawn: A Christmas Story & Christmas Vacation.
Every 2nd Friday, Mount Dora hosts Art in the Alley, with original art, handmade goods, music, and more. The downtown galleries will have extended hours and free admission. Begin by getting an Art in the Alley map from The Mount Dora Center for the Arts Gallery, have your map punched at each of the gallery stops, and return with your completed map to the Gatehouse Gallery at the Lakeside Inn for your chance to win a special prize. Galleries will be open from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and the sidewalk artists and musicians will be there until 9:00 pm.
Light Up Lady Lake is happening from 6:15 - 10:00 pm. There will be holiday greetings from the mayor, a chorus performance, Santa photos, and food for purchase.
Friday, December 13, 2019 - Sunday, December 15, 2019:
The Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards will host Wine & Chocolate 2019 from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm on Friday and Saturday and from 11:00 - 5:00 pm on Sunday. Adult admission is $10 and children 12 and under are admitted for free. They say this is one of their most popular festivals of the year, so you may want to get your tickets in advance online. Local Chocolatiers will be there with their delicious treats, plus arts & crafters will be displaying their work. Enjoy the live music on either the outdoor stage or at the Wine & Cheese Bar. There is also cornhole games, a food court, wine & beer bars, plus complimentary winery tours and tasting. A portion of the proceeds will go to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida.
Saturday, December 14, 2019:
Cracker Christmas Parade & Festival in Umatilla takes place from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. There will be a dog jog, parade, arts & crafts, food, and children's activities.
Groveland is hosting Rockin Around the Christmas Tree (part two) from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. There will be a Christmas parade and a Christmas festival in the park with food trucks, music, rock climbing, bounce houses, kids zone, mega video truck, face painting, and more.
Today is the 1st Annual Gingerbread House Bake Off from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the Lake Square Mall. Entry fee is $15 and there are two categories (Snowflake Category, ages 5-12, prizes of $75, $50, and $25; and Candy Land Category, ages 13 and up, prizes of $100, $75, and $50). The winning Gingerbread Houses will remain on display throughout the holiday season. You must register online by 12/2/19.
Kids 10 and under can enjoy Milk & Cookies with Santa at the Lake Square Mall at 5:00 pm (verify the time - other places say 10:00 am) - tickets are available for this free event online.
Leesburg is hosting Food Trucks and Flick Night beginning at 5:00 pm. There will be food trucks, classic and custom cars, live entertainment, and a cash bar. The movie begins at 7:15 and is The Polar Express. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs for seating.
Minneola's Moonlight Christmas Parade & Santa's Activity Workshop takes place from 5:30 - 9:30 pm. Enjoy the parade and children's activities.
Tonight is the Wine Stroll in Clermont hosted by Corelli's Pantry. Taste 15 wines plus shop with them or their neighbors. Tickets are $15 per person.
Now through Sunday, January 5, 2020:
Get ready to have fun at Eustis on Ice! General admission is $10 per person and includes unlimited skating for the day and skate rental. They have a Sip n' Skate Pass option for $90 that includes 10 skate passes with skate rentals plus 10 drinks. You can use any number of your skate passes each day (meaning you can use them for a large group in one day or spread them out). Hours are usually 3-9 pm on Monday-Thursday, 3-10 pm on Friday, 10 am - 10 pm on Saturday, and 1-7 pm on Sunday. Guests will enjoy skating on real ice! Coin operated small lockers are available for $0.50 while skating.
