After a stormy Thursday night, it looks like Lake County, Florida is in for a really nice weekend! Do you have any plans yet? Take a look at these options for things to do here in Lake County:

Friday, February 7, 2020:

  • The Leesburg Center for the Arts hosts its Night Market featuring local artisans, crafters, makers, and growers from 5 - 8 pm. The market will include an art walk and a concert crawl along Main Street. There will be a Meet the Artists Reception for "Something New", a Member's Gallery Exhibit, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm, where you can meet the artists and view their work.

  • The First Friday Food Trucks will be in Clermont from 5:30 - 9:00 pm. Bring chairs if you want to enjoy the free concert. There will be a kids zone, crafters, vendors, local stores open late for shopping, and adult beverages available for purchase at local merchants.

  • The First Friday Street Party is happening in Eustis this evening from 6 - 10 pm. This is a free, family friendly event featuring live music and vendors.

  • The Anastassia Ballroom & Dance in Leesburg is presenting their Valentine Dance Party this evening from 7 - 9 pm. You'll be able to enjoy an evening of date night dancing, refreshments, and romance. Space is limited so call to register. Admission is $15 per person and includes small plates and refreshments.

Friday, February 7, 2020 - Sunday, February 9, 2020:

  • Lakeridge Winery in Clermont presents their 30th Annual Winefest this weekend. Winefest is being held on Friday and Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm and on Sunday from 11 am - 5 pm. Adult admission is $10 and children 12 and under are admitted free. You'll see local artists and crafters displaying their work plus you'll be able to enjoy live music on the outdoor stage including The Ladyz & The Boyz and David Julia on Friday, The Smokin' Torpedoes and the Mike Quick Band on Saturday, and the Buddy Blues Band and Beautiful Bobby Blackmon & The B3 Blues Band on Sunday. The Wine & Cheese Bar inside will have entertainment as well. Lakeridge Wine, beer, soft drinks, and a variety of food will be available for purchase plus there will be complimentary winery tours and tastings. You'll be able to set up your chairs and blankets to enjoy listening to live music plus there will be cornhole games set up for everyone to enjoy. You can purchase tickets in advance online or you can pay at the gate.

  • It may be worth a trip to the Villages for The Villages Balloon Festival and Winter Celebration this weekend. Times are Friday from 2 - 10 pm, Saturday from 7 - 9 am and 2 - 9 pm, and Sunday at 7 am. Daily general admission is $15 for adults, $10 for youth aged 11-17, with children 10 and under admitted free. You can purchase a two day weekend pass for $20 per adult or $15 per youth. Other package purchases are available, including a weekend pass family pack, a VIP pass, and a VIP family pack. Balloon flights are weather dependent. There will be food, vendors, entertainment, and balloons!

  • This is the final weekend that The Melon Patch Theatre in Leesburg will present Baskerville on Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and on Sunday at 2:00 pm. This is a transformation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic The Hound of the Baskervilles into a murderously funny adventure, and Sherlock Holmes is on the case. Watch as investigators try to escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises, and deceit as five actors portray more than forty characters. Tickets are $10 with student ID or $20 for adults and can be purchased on their website.

  • The Moonlight Players Theatre in Clermont presents The Drowsy Chaperone on Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and on Sunday at 2:30 pm (this is the third weekend of the show which continues through February 16). When Mrs. Tottenham hosts the wedding of the year, she gets a lot more than a write-up in the society pages: Janet Van de Graaff, glittering starlet of Feldzieg's Follies, is leaving the stage for love. Hijinks ensue." Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students, or $10 for children and can be purchased on their website.

  • The Bay Street Players in Eustis present The Fantasticks on Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and on Sunday at 2:30 pm (also the third weekend of the show which continues through February 16). Here's a description from their website: "A whimsical, poignant, and romantic production is an allegorical story that focuses on two young lovers, their meddling fathers, and the journey we all must take through adolescent thrills: the growing pains of hurt and betrayal, the highs of passion, the challenges of distance, and the agonies of heartbreak to discover how to truly love." Tickets are $11 with student ID or $21 for adults and can be purchased on their website.



Lake county weekend events activities Florida Georgefest

Saturday, February 8, 2020:

  • The Clermont Performing Arts Center features The Pirates of Penzance, a comic opera in two acts, presented by the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players with 23 cast members and a 17 piece orchestra. It begins at 4:00 pm and tickets can be purchased online for $26.50 or $30.00 (the $39.00 tickets are sold out).

  • The 4th Annual George's Chili Cook-off will be held today with tasting beginning at 4:00 pm at Ferran Park. Music will be provided by Crashrocket.

  • It's the Leesburg Food Truck & Flick Night beginning at 5 pm in downtown Leesburg. In addition to food trucks, you'll see classic and custom cars, live entertainment, and a cash bar. The movie begins at 7:15 pm and is Lady & The Tramp.

  • This evening from 6:30 - 9:00 pm, The Leesburg Center for the Arts features Ruth & Max Bloomquist in Concert for an evening of Pure Michigan Folk music. Tickets can be purchased in advance online for $15 or at the door for $20.


Lake county weekend events activities Florida balloon festival

Sunday, February 9, 2020:

  • The Ukulele & Guitar Club meets today from 1:00 - 2:30 pm at the Leesburg Center for the Arts. Join with fellow ukulele and guitar enthusiasts and have fun playing with others. Players of all ages are welcome and should be at the level of advanced beginner or above. Singing will take place too, and music will range from traditional to contemporary. To become a member of the club, purchase an individual membership with the Leesburg Center for the Arts for $30 year. Bring your ukulele or guitar and a music stand. Feel free to visit a time or two before deciding if you want to join the club. The club meets on the second Sunday of each month.
