Friday, October 18, 2019:
Looking for a fun activity for your children? It's Kids Night at the Plaster Cottage in Clermont! The cost is $12.00 per child and they get to paint two plaster pieces that they choose plus they enjoy pizza and juice. You can drop off school-aged children from 6-8 pm or you can stay and watch.
Friday, October 18, 2019 - Sunday, October 20, 2019:
It's time for the Fall Scavenger Hunt Maze and Pumpkin Patch at Lake Catherine Blueberries in Groveland! It's held on Fridays from 6-10 pm, Saturdays from 10am-10pm, and Sundays from 10 am-6 pm this weekend and next. If you want to enter the mazes after dark, be sure to bring flashlights. Admission to the maze is $7 for ages 13 and up, $5 for ages 4-12, and free for children 3 and under. There is no charge for parking or for entering the farm. Before it gets dark, you may be able to take in a hayride, go for a ride on the tractor train, plus there will be plenty of opportunities for photos.
Saturday, October 19, 2019:
Happy 20th Anniversary to the Florida Wildlife Festival which is being held beginning at 11 am at Cadwell Park in Umatilla. The festival seeks to promote the safe coexistence with the Florida black bear and native wildlife species. There will be guided and self-guided tours, children's activities (free arts & crafts plus interactive games), live music, expert presenters, arts & crafts exhibitors, plus retail sales and food vendors, wrapping up with a BBQ cook-off at 5 pm.
Check out the 2nd Annual Central Florida Fall on the Farm at The Backwoods in Groveland today and next Saturday from 11 am - 5 pm. Admission is a $5 donation for guests 5 and older at the gate or $4 if you reserve in advance through the website, with proceeds going towards a Fire Fund for a family who lost everything in a fire. Enjoy the pumpkin patch, petting zoo, games, crafts, food, and fun. Wear your costume and enjoy Trunk r Treat.
The music of Key West comes to the Leesburg waterfront today from 12 noon - 8 pm at the Trop Rock Festival at the Pat Thomas Stadium. Tickets are $20 in advance or $24 at the gate. Bring your lawn chairs or cushions for infield seating. Dress in your best Parrothead costume for a chance to win $200! The musical acts will include Sanky and the Simmer Down Crew, Highway Oneband, and the Landsharks Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band. Food and drink will be available for purchase, and parking will be available with a free shuttle from the downtown Leesburg parking garage. This inaugural concert benefits Leesburg Community Youth Programs.
Today is Pumpkin Palooza in Leesburg at the National Guard Armory. This Halloween costume party promises prizes (cash & gifts) for both children and adults, two wrestling shows, and live music provided by Lost Boyz. Admission to the early matinee (12 noon-4:30 pm) or the late show (4:45-8:00 pm) will be $12 for adults, $5 children 8 and up, or free for children up to 7 (one free per paying adult). Combination tickets which include the entire day will be $20 per adult, $10 for children 8 and up, or free for children up to 7 (one free per paying adult).
There's a Halloween costume party just for adults called Grown-Up Halloween beginning at 6 pm at The Starlight Ballroom in Leesburg. Your $40 ticket gets you dinner, a drink, dessert, entertainment, a costume contest (the winner receives a trip for two to NYC), and a silent auction (prizes to include a stay at The Grandview B&B, theatre tickets, movie tickets, gift cards, local art, gift baskets and more). Entertainment will be provided by Donna J - The Lady in Black. All proceeds will benefit The CREATE Conservatory, an organization that stresses using the arts to transform education.
If you enjoy Broadway and movie music, you'll want to see the Florida Philharmonic perform at 7 pm at the Clermont Performing Arts Center. 50+ professional musicians will take to the stage for this "Curtain Up!" performance featuring music from Les Miserables, Carousel, West Side Story, Wizard of Oz, Beauty & the Beast, Ghost, and Shrek. Tickets are available online for $18.00 - $25.50 per person.
Looking for a fun family event that won't cost a fortune including pizza? Then come to Skateworld in Leesburg for All You Can Eat Pizza Night from 7-10 pm with pizza served from 7-9:30 pm. Enjoy a night of roller skating with skate rentals for $2 (regular skates), $3 (speed skates & inlines), or $4 (jam skates). Admission is $7.50 (everyone attending must pay) and the cost of the skate rental.
Saturday, October 19, 2019 - Sunday, October 20, 2019:
Are you ready for two days of fantasy and hard core industrial? Then come on out to Renninger's Steampunk Industrial Show from 9 am - 5 pm with free admission. You'll find great original artwork, clothing, jewelry, hats, shoes, and antiques. There will be entertainment, food, and games. You are encouraged to dress in your best Steampunk outfit.
Sunday, October 20, 2019:
The Festivals of Speed Display of Exotic Cars will take place from 10 am - 4 pm at The Mission Inn Resort in Howey in the Hills. You'll see vintage and contemporary cars, supercars, muscle cars, rare custom motorcycles, and more. General admission tickets are $20 for ages 13 and up with children 12 and under being admitted for free. VIP tickets are available for $95 including open bar, food, dessert, coffee, ice tea, and soft drinks.
Today is Octoberfest Wine Tasting at the Yalaha Bakery from noon - 5 pm. Enjoy complimentary Italian wine tasting plus there will be fun activities, German food, beer, and live music with a band from Bavaria. The event is free but you can register in advance through the website provided.
