Friday, January 10, 2020:
Learn to Crochet: the Artrageous Art Gallery in Leesburg has a class for people interested in learning to crochet called "Beginning with the Basics" from 10 am - 12 noon. The $15 fee includes supplies.
Every 2nd Friday, Mount Dora hosts Art in the Alley, with original art, handmade goods, music, and more. The downtown galleries will have extended hours and free admission. Begin by getting an Art in the Alley map from The Mount Dora Center for the Arts Gallery, have your map punched at each of the gallery stops, and return with your completed map to the Gatehouse Gallery at the Lakeside Inn for your chance to win a special prize. Galleries will be open from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and the sidewalk artists and musicians will be there until 9:00 pm.
Friday Night at the Black Box: this evening at 8 pm at the Clermont Performing Arts Center, you can see headliner Dean Napolitano along with Dougie Almeida and emcee Lyndsey Glazer. Dean is a comedian and a storyteller who has opened for Don Rickles and Joan Rivers. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased online.
Saturday, January 11, 2020:
Clermont MEGA Food Truck Rally: from 2 - 9 pm, enjoy the Anita Drink Band on the lawn by city hall, the kids zone, crafters, vendors, and stores. There will be 25 or more food trucks to satisfy your cravings.
Leesburg Food Truck & Flick Night: beginning at 5 pm, there will be food trucks, classic and custom cars, a cash bar, and live entertainment at the town square in Leesburg, plus a movie that begins 15 minutes after dusk. Note: some calendars include this event and some don't, so you may want to verify that it's happening before going.
Full Moon Guided Kayak Paddle: guided by the glow of the full moon and a guide, you'll enjoy the beauty and mystery of Hammond Lake in Clermont from 6:00 - 7:45 pm. You can use one of their single kayaks for $40, or you can bring your own kayak for $25 per person (tandems or single). Reserve your spot online. The minimum age for kayaking is 8.
Bill Buchman's Art of Jazz Quartet: if you like jazz, check out Bill Buchman on piano, Rick Aaron on flute, Rob Fors on bass, and Skip Conkling on drums at the Modernism Museum Gallery in Mount Dora beginning at 7 pm. A sparkling and white wine reception begins at 6:30 pm and is included with your admission. Tickets are $20 for 3MD members or $30 for nonmembers and can be purchased at the museum or online.
The Mount Dora Ghost Tour: depart at 8:00 pm on a guided tour beginning at Sunset Park in Mount Dora. During your 90 minute tour, the haunted and historic history of Mount Dora will come to life as you visit the lost souls of the Lakeside Inn and seek specters in the streets along the way. Scares and a seance are included in the $30 per person fee.
